Readers of all ages are probably familiar with the American Library Association’s READ posters which have featured celebrities from Mickey Mouse to Elvis to Taylor Lautner. Readers can even visit the ALA website for resources on making a personalized poster. Before that libraries and government encouraged reading through posters many may not have seen before.
My favorite: BOOKS ARE WEAPONS IN THE WAR OF IDEAS

“Books cannot be killed by fire. People die, but books never die. No man and no force can put thought in a concentration camp forever. No man and no force can take from the world the books that embody man’s eternal fight against tyranny. In this war, we know, books are weapons.” {signed by Franklin Roosevelt}
This poster was created as part of America’s response to Nazi book burnings. At the same time the Armed Services Editions of books for soldiers were created. Check out The Art of Manliness blog to learn the history of this movement.
